Representative Drew Hansen supports health care as part of the social safety net to ensure that our most vulnerable citizens do not go bankrupt because they lack health insurance. Representative Hansen was a strong advocate in the House of Representatives for SB 6412, a bill proposed by Senator Christine Rolfes to ensure that KPS insurance clients who lost their health insurance when KPS ended its line of individual and family coverage would be able to obtain health insurance with another carrier. Both Planned Parenthood Votes Northwest and NARAL Pro-Choice Washington have endorsed Representative Hansen, recognizing his record of support for reproductive health care. Representative Hansen's legislative accomplishments on health care include:

* Successfully advocating for the restoration of nearly $159 million in proposed cuts to critical health care programs, including the Basic Health Plan, Disability Lifeline, and Mental Health Care (Medicaid and Non-Medicaid)

* Supporting the expansion of suicide prevention training so that more health care professionals will be alert to the warning signs of suicide

* Supporting the Reproductive Parity Act, which ensures continued access to complete health insurance coverage
